HCR
Heat Conductivity Resistance

About HCR

HCR is a performance value we have developed for our thermal equipment that measures the warmth on a scale of 3 to 9, with 9 providing the most warmth.

The choice of thermal performance is always individual, and should also be balanced against the intended activity and needs for flexibility and agility in the field.

HCR lets us provide a simple reference that combines the difference in insulation materials, external conditions, and body sensitivity.

Whether it is light insulation for active pursuits or complete heat retention in extreme Nordic and Arctic climates, your purpose dictates how to apply HCR.

Active Versatile

Active Versatile

  • For temperatures +10°C to -10°C

  • Air permeable layers that provide some warmth and protection

  • Made for in-motion activities year-round

  • Relying primarily on recycled or bio-based synthetic insulation techniques to match good heat-to-weight ratio and good response in humid conditions

  • Has the advantage of keeping you warm when damp

  • Excellent durability in varied environments

  • More trimmed fit and less compact than down which gives more versatility

Core Warmth

Core Warmth

  • For temperatures 0°C to -20°C

  • Everyday warmth, designed to keep you warm in periods of inactivity

  • Relying primarily on down insulation (certified with Responsible Down Standard) to allow for a lightweight, excellent compression, and long-lived materials

  • Spacious garments, to be worn over other layers

  • Ideal for cold and dry conditions

Nordic Winter

Nordic Winter

  • For temperatures -10°C to -25°C

  • Inspired by Nordic winter conditions and made for everyday warmth

  • Relying primarily on down insulation (certified with Responsible Down Standard) to ensure performance longevity while allowing for an excellent, lightweight compression

  • Complemented by recycled or bio-based synthetic insulation reinforcements for complete warmth retention

  • Spacious garments, to be worn over other layers

  • Ideal for cold and dry conditions

Arctic Extreme

Arctic Extreme

  • For temperatures -25°C and below

  • Designed for survival and working conditions in the coldest and harshest environments on earth

  • Relying primarily on down insulation (certified with Responsible Down Standard) to ensure performance longevity while allowing for an excellent, lightweight compression

  • Complemented by recycled or bio-based synthetic insulation reinforcements for complete warmth retention

  • Spacious and fully protective garments to be worn over other layers

  • These garments are made from 2L Cutan® fabric with MFR 10 value, ensuring complete wind and water protection

Heat

When the temperature drops, your own body heat is your best friend. It is essential to save and absorb it, to stay warm for a longer period of time. The right insulation will keep you safe - and focused on your adventure.

Conductivity Resistance

Reducing the amount of heat leaving your body is the main goal when adding insulating layers. Insulation traps in the heat, while still ventilating moisture - to provide you with warmth and comfort.

System

To bring everything when going on an expedition is rarely a realistic option, which is why we have put our equipment into a system. By choosing equipment with the right HCR value, you can adapt your equipment selection to the adventure at hand.
