As a Product Developer Hardware you will work in the end of the development phase with ensuring the Klättermusen product are delivered with the highest quality and attention to detail.


An exciting, challenging job with great variety and development potential, working with backpacks and accessories. We are looking for someone who is well versed in construction and fit, good eye for details and finding technical solutions, used to work with functional products and passionate about quality and details.


Its important to collaborate with other departments to ensure that all feedback from costumers are considered, and that all collection information is updated and accurate. It is a creative role but also requires a high level of structure and planning to meet timelines and deadlines throughout the development.


What you'll do:

  • You will be a part of the Klättermusen design team making sure the quality, workmanship, and our attention to detail is kept to the highest levels and in line with Klättermusens standards.
  • Together with the production team and factories making sure they have the latest specifications, meeting our costing targets and follows the approved pre-production samples.
  • With a focus on the in line collection you will work closely with the designer, always striving to update with the latest materials, constructions and production setup. The job includes travels to factories to ensure best practise.
  • Responsible for our products meeting the Klättermusen quality and workmanship standards.
  • Ensure quality and production issues are solved and implemented together with Service and Production teams.


What you have:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in working with developing backpacks and accessories.
  • Experienced within technical solutions and construction methods within backpacks, gloves and other accessories
  • Experience within production facilities and handling contact with factories.
  • Business-level proficiency in written and oral English communication.
  • Practical knowledge of a PLM (product lifecycle management) system.
  • A humble team player with great communication and organisation skills.
  • For this position you need to be curious, detailed, solution oriented and lastly an outdoor enthusiast!

You will be part of a small and focused Design and Production team in Åre Sweden, working to secure the highest standard of our inline collection and leading the future developments within trims & fabric design.


We have one of the highest demands on function, sustainability, and durability on the market, with users that daily put their trust in our products. It is vital that we constantly evolve and test our products to a premium level.


We are seeking a skilled and motivated Material Developer to join our Research & Development team. The ideal   candidate will have a strong background in material science, chemistry, or a related field and a passion for developing innovative materials that enhance product performance, sustainability, and cost-efficiency. The Material Developer will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, test, and implement new materials for our product lines.

 

And of course, to fully understand our mission it helps to be an outdoor enthusiast. 



Key Responsibilities

  • Material Research & Development:
    • Conduct research to identify and develop new materials that meet specific performance criteria.
    • Evaluate the properties and performance of materials through laboratory testing and analysis.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in material science.
  • Product Development Support:
    • Collaborate with product design and development teams to integrate new materials into product designs.
    • Provide technical support during the product development process, including prototyping and testing phases.
    • Ensure new materials meet regulatory and safety standards.
    • Place and review lab dip orders on a seasonal basis.
    • Ensure that all material product cards in the PLM system are up to date and accurate
    • Negotiate MOQ, MOC and price with suppliers to ensure efficiency
  • Quality Assurance & Testing:
    • Develop and implement testing protocols to assess material performance under various conditions.
    • Analyse test data and provide detailed reports on material properties and potential improvements.
    • Work with quality assurance teams to ensure consistent material quality in production.
  • Sustainability Initiatives:
    • Identify opportunities to incorporate sustainable materials and practices into product development.
    • Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact through material innovation.
  • Supplier Collaboration:
    • Work with suppliers to source and evaluate materials.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with key material suppliers.

 

 
Other

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in material development, preferable within apparel and packs.
  • Experience/Education in product and fabric development with focus on engineering or Industrial Design.
  • Strong knowledge in material properties, testing methods, and analytical techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Deep knowledge of the adobe suite.
  • Expertise in data analysis and material evaluation tools.
  • Experience with PLM systems is advantageous
  • Business-level proficiency in written and oral English communication

This person will be integral to the store success, with a proven track record in retail; able to provide great customer service and play a key role in the ongoing development of Klättermusen in the UK.



Responsibilities:

  • Provide high level of customer service.
  • Work as part of a team to achieve targets.
  • Help with customer’s queries including returns and complaints.
  • Merchandise the store to a relevant and high standard.
  • Restock according to shop needs.
  • Adhere to company stock procedures to ensure good stock management.
  • Shop Upkeep
  • Complete given tasks efficiently.
  • Convey your knowledge and enthusiasm about products to our customers and use your knowledge to develop strong sales.
  • Actively participate in training sessions and keep yourself up to date with new and product and material releases.
  • Report issues and improvements to the management team.
