Mithril 3.0

Mithril 3.0

Minimalistic and simple, yet highly technical.

Minimalistic and simple, yet highly technical.

A true Klättermusen classic has returned. The Mithril Pant was introduced for the first time in 1998 as a minimalistic yet very sturdy and functional pant for climbing.

The knee reinforcements, made from Aramid, are a key detail that has been kept in the 3.0 version of the Mithril Pant. The main material is our sustainable and well tested WindStretch™.

The original idea of the Mithril Pant was to create a climbing pant that would withstand the roughness of a climb among sharp rocks and edges, but at the same time versatile enough for a wide range of activities. The ambition was to make a climbing pant that could be sewn in one day, but that would last for years ahead on the cliff.

The 3.0 version of the Mithril Pant is made with more sustainable materials and with added technical details.

“I made the Mithril Pant in the 90’s as a super functional climbing pant. As it was the first stretchy climbing pant for men, it was met with skepticism at first. But soon the tight and stretchy climbing pant became a completely new product category among outdoor companies.

Being at the outdoor fairs at the time, we noticed a lot of guys coming to try on the Mithril pants, and their girlfriends immediately telling them to buy the pants, which led to us making a version for women as well shortly after.

The first version of the Mithril Pant didn’t have any pockets or front zipper – it was produced in Umeå and took 12 minutes to make. After a while I sent out a survey, asking if users were missing the pockets and front zipper, which they did not. Although after some consideration I added it anyways and did some additional adjustments, which tripled the sales. More pants were shortly added to the collection, but the Mithril kept standing strong as our most hardcore climbing pant at the time.”

For the 3.0 version of the Mithril Pant we have kept the key elements of the pant, but also made a few updates and improvements.

The detachable and removable belt has been updated with a new, more durable, buckle. We have also added brush holder for convenience when climbing, but kept the knee reinforcements and hand pockets from the original version.
