Tour Sweden’s high alpine terrain hut-to-hut

For adventurous ski tourers and splitboarders, this is your chance to explore Swedish Lapland’s high alpine terrain above the Arctic Circle. Traverse the wild backcountry on a multi-day ski touring and splitboarding adventure through the Kebnekaise (Giebmegáisi in Sámi) mountain range. Guided by IFMGA-certified experts, this intimate journey takes you from one remote mountain hut to the next, chasing pristine snow and summiting iconic peaks, including Kebnekaise, Sweden’s highest at 2,097 metres. Each day offers breathtaking views and a new line to explore, with small groups ensuring a personal, immersive experience.

Trip Overview


Day 1: Arrive in Kiruna and head to Nikkaluokta
Arrive in Kiruna (Giron in Sámi) and take a scenic one-hour drive to Nikkaluokta (Nihkkáluokta), a small Sámi mountain village. Settle into your cabin, check your gear, and gather for welcome drinks and dinner.


Day 2: Snowmobile to Sälka and settle into the mountains
Travel by snowmobile to the remote Sälka cabin. Check snow conditions, explore nearby lines, and enjoy a home-cooked dinner. Unwind in the wood-fired sauna and prepare for the days ahead.


Days 3–4: Explore Nallo’s alpine playground
Move further into Nallo (Nállu), a remote mountain cabin set against dramatic peaks. Ski touring routes offer everything from mellow bowls to steep couloirs. Depending on conditions, you may skin up Sielmatjåkka (Šielmmáčohkka), one of Sweden’s 2,000-metre peaks.


Day 5: Take on the “Yoyo Route”
Tackle Jojoleden, a challenging traverse across three mountain passes. Optional extra runs and summits are available. Finish the day at Tarfala cabin, surrounded by glaciers and towering peaks.


Day 6: Tour Tarfala’s glaciated terrain
Explore Sweden’s largest glaciers and high-alpine ski lines. Ride famous couloirs such as Liljetoppsrännan or enjoy long glaciated descents.


Day 7: Summit Kebnekaise
Skin up and descend Kebnekaise (Giebmegáisi), Sweden’s highest peak at 2,097 metres. Routes are chosen by your expert guide based on conditions. End the day at Kebnekaise Mountain Station with hot showers, a sauna, and a farewell dinner.


Day 8: Return to Kiruna and depart
After breakfast, snowmobiles take you back to Nikkaluokta, followed by a transfer to Kiruna Airport or Central Station for departures.
