Levels of Insulation

Some of our insulated gloves use the — a scale that measures insulation performance and warmth in various conditions. The HCR scale ranges from 3 to 9, where 3 represents light insulation for high-output activities, and 9 offers maximum warmth for extreme cold and harsh environments.

Light insulation, HCR 1-3

Ideal for high-output activities such as ski touring, climbing, or fast hiking. Breathable and flexible, designed to layer under a shell without overheating.


Perfect for: high-intensity activities, ski touring, climbing, fast trekking.

Medium Insulation, HCR 5

Balanced warmth for most outdoor adventures. Suitable for hiking, alpine skiing, and day trips in colder conditions. Combines comfort and versatility.


Perfect for: all-day hiking, alpine skiing, trekking, general outdoor use.

Heavy Insulation, HCR 7-9

Heavy insulation for extreme cold or demanding expeditions. Designed for harsh arctic conditions or extended periods outdoors, keeping you warm when you need it most.

Some of our shell gloves use the — a scale that measures the balance between air permeability and fabric resistance. The MFR scale ranges from 2 to 10, where 2 provides limited wind resistance and maximum breathability, while 10 is fully wind- and waterproof for complete protection.

Light Protection, MFR 2-4
