Early‑season powder in an authentic setting

This trip is designed for confident skiers and splitboarders with experience in backcountry ski touring and off‑piste skiing. You will explore the remote mountains around Ridder in the Altai of North East Kazakhstan, well beyond the lifts and crowds, in a region known for its long ski touring tradition.


Each day, you move under your own power, ski touring through variable snow and earning clean lines in a quiet backcountry landscape. The pace is steady and natural, shaped by weather, conditions, and the guides’ deep local knowledge through guided ski touring.


Between days in the mountains, you return to traditional yurt living, a warming sauna, and hearty Kazakh food.

Day 1: Arrival day

You and your group meet the guide at Almaty Airport (ALA) and fly together to Oskemen. From there, a ground transfer takes you to Ridder, where you settle into your base. The day finishes with a welcome dinner, trip briefing, and gear allocation to prepare for the days ahead.

Day 2-7: Yurt based ski touring

Yurt‑based ski touring in remote backcountry terrain. Each day is dedicated to earning turns through steady ascents, adapting routes to snow and weather, and refining movement in alpine terrain. Shorter tours build naturally into longer objectives.

Day 8: Final night in Almaty

After breakfast we transfer to Oskemen to catch the afternoon flight to Almaty. We check in to a centrally located hotel, ca 20–30 minutes by taxi from the airport, and enjoy an evening in the city, with the option to join a relaxed farewell dinner at a traditional Kazakh restaurant.

Day 9: Departure day

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Almaty Airport for your onward journey home, marking the end of the trip.
