Size Guide

Having the right sized equipment will give you a much more enjoyable and secure outdoor experience. All Klättermusen products have been carefully designed with fits intended for specific activities in mind and considers comfort, layering and performance of the fabrics. Here you will find a general size guide, and individual size guides can be found on each product.

How to choose the right size

Our fits are general and correlates to the intended use it was designed for. The fit of a size medium can therefore differ between products. The right size for you is a combination of the product’s design, your intended usage, and your individual preference. It can seem like a lot, but there are a few steps that will help you choose the right size.

  1. Use the fit guide to understand our different fits
  2. Take your own measurements
  3. Use the size chart to see which size your own measurements refers to
  4. Each product has an individual size guide to get the correct measurements and fit for that specific product
  5. Convert international sizes using our size conversion chart

Fit Guide

We have three different types of fits for different intended usage to help you navigate and the fits will give you a benchmark of how the products are designed. A medium sized jacket with a regular fit is slimmer in design than a medium sized jacket with a relaxed fit. If your intention is to use it for the activity it was designed for, then go with your normal size. If your personal preference is a more relaxed fit, then size up.

The key thing when choosing your size is comfort. Questions to ask yourself is: ”Does it allow for freedom of movement?” and “Can I wear enough layering underneath?”.

Our Fits

Slender fit

A slender fit gives you more freedom of movement and is used on products intended for fast paced activities and for next-to-skin products. Slender fits are used on base layers or mid layers that follows your body shape. Slender fits are not designed for underneath layering. If layering is needed, size one up from your normal size. Length may vary.

Regular fit

Regular fits are slightly more spacious than slender fits to make room for underneath layering and still provide for the movement you want. If a thicker layer such as an Alv is needed underneath, then we recommend you to choose a larger size. This is the most common fit and is used for various types of activities. Length may vary.

Relaxed fit

A relaxed fit is intended to be worn as an outer layer and provides enough space for underneath layers when choosing your normal size. If you size down, remember that the product is relaxed to make sure warm air can be captured underneath and keep you warm. Some hoodies also feature a relaxed fit to give a cosy look and feel. Length may vary.

Upper Body Fits

Regular Arm Length

Regular sleeve length stops at your wrist. Common for base layers and mid layers.

Extended Arm Length

An extended sleeve length will cover your hand slightly, for extra protection. Common on outer layers and mid layers.

Regular Back Length (Back Drop)

Regular backdrop has the same or slightly longer back than the front for freedom of movement.

Extended Back Length (Back Drop)

Equipment with extended backdrop are longer in the back than in the front, offering extra protection for lower back and hips.

Lower Body Fits

Short Leg Length

Some styles offer both short and regular leg length to suit all body lengths. A short leg length is 5cm shorter than regular leg length.

Regular Leg Length

Regular leg length typically ends by the ankles and is 5cm longer than short leg length.

Extended Leg Length

Extended legs for when extra protection is needed and coverage above shoes and boots is wanted.

Tapered Lower Leg

Slimmed leg from the knee and down for a narrower fit.

Regular Lower Leg

Straight leg from the knee and down.

Wide Lower Leg

Wide leg from the knee and down for a relaxed fit.

How to Measure

Measuring your body is the most accurate way to find the right size for you. Use our step by step guides on how our measurements are taken.

Men's: Measure your body
  1. Chest
Place the measuring tape under your arms and across your chest at the widest part. Take a deep breath to make sure that the measuring tape is not placed too tight.
  2. Waist
Place the measuring tape around your waist at the smallest point, normally at the umbilicus, take a deep relaxing breath to make sure that the measuring tape is not placed too tight.
  3. Sleeve Length
Find the highest neck vertebra with your fingers, start from this point, and place the measuring tape at this point, then let the measuring tape follow your shoulder and down along the arm, slightly bend your arm and place the measuring tape on the elbow and down the wrist vertebra.
  4. Back Length
Find the highest neck vertebra with your fingers, start from this point and measure down to the same place as you measured your waist. (Tip: You can use a webbing around your waist as a mark, then you will know for sure how far down you should measure.)
  5. Seat
Place the measuring tape around your seat at the widest point. Make sure that the tape is not placed too tight.
  6. Inseam
Place the measuring at groin, measure from this point down to your inner foot ankle.
